January Pack Meeting – Indoor Rock Climbing & ArcherySONY DSC

BSA BaseCamp at Fort Snelling

When:  Sunday January 12th, 2020,  2:00-4:30 p.m.

  • Join the Pack  for indoor rock climbing, archery on the indoor range, and gaga ball.
  • Base camp staff will belay participants.  Harnesses and helmets are provided.  The climbing wall is modeled after St. Croix River bluffs near Taylors Falls.
  • Lion scouts are welcome to attend at the discretion of their adult partners.  Basecamp policy does state that archery and rock climbing minimum age is Kindergarten, so if you feel your scout is ready for these activities please attend!
  • Siblings welcome, access to activities may be limited based on number attending.  Minimum age to participate is Kindergarten and waiver form must be completed.
  • Scouts should wear their uniform or a scouting T-shirt.  CLOSED TOED SHOES also required to participate in rock climbing.
  • Please print, read, sign and bring waiver form for the participating scouts.   You can also complete this form at Basecamp the day of the event, there will be plenty of copies there as well.
  • Base Camp is conveniently located off of Highway 62 at 201 Bloomington Road,  Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Directions-to-Base-Camp

    • Cars are allowed to use graphite or oil-based lubricants.
    • If you use graphite please note the application of extra graphite is not allowed the school building.  Please apply any graphite prior to coming to the school.
    • Oil-based lubricants include products such as Krytox 100 and Nyoil.  Please use only a very small amount, application tips can be found online.
    • Awards will be presented following each race. Please go to the awards table following the end of your race.
    • The scale at the check-in table will be the official scale. When the car is ready, the Scout can bring it to the official table for check in and decide by the weight whether it is ready. Once the car has been checked in, it will no longer be available to the racer for adjustments.
    • PINEWOOD DERBY PRACTICE – There should be a practice track setup by Pack 330 at Holy Family High School on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm for any Scout wishing to test his car. There should be a scale and tools to help prepare the cars.
    • Top 2 finishers from each rank advance to the Pack Finals at 11am.
    • Top 3 finishers from each rank are encouraged to attend District finals in April…  more info to come
